Nothing has done more to make Salzburg well-known in the United States and the Far East than the Hollywood film "The Sound of Music". We take you to the places where the story of the von Trapp family was filmed. The original "Sound of Music" tour begins in the Mirabell Gardens, where Maria von Trapp and the children danced around the statue of Pegasus and sang the song "Do re mi". The next stop is outside the Leopoldskron Castle, which was adapted and used as the home of the von Trapp family.
To the delight of all those who, after 35 years, still like to visit the original locations used in this film classic, the glass pavilion has been rebuilt in the garden of Schloß Hellbrunn. We drive past the Nonnberg Abbey, where the Baron and Maria married in 1927, and take you to the Fuschlsee lake. It was here and in St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee that the views were filmed which are to be seen at the start of the film. Finally, the beautiful church in Mondsee was used as the setting for the wedding scenes.
During the trip, you will listen to the best-known tracks from "The Sound of Music". There will also be a small surprise gift. Above all, though, you will be able to see for yourself how the film that has made Salzburg so well-known was created.
